About me
I am a credentialed Mental Health Nurse and been working across the sector since 1996. I am passionate about supporting individuals to explore their work, build capacity and critically reflect on aspects of the work that can challenge us.
My experience
I have worked across many different areas in both the public and private areas including: - Forensic mental health unit at Thomas Embling (Mont Park prior to this) - Acute inpatient unit at Alfred Hospital - Mental health triage at Alfred and Eastern Health - Crisis Assessment Treatment Teams at Alfred and Eastern Health - The private sector where I was a Clinical Manager responsible for the daily operations and clinical management of the mental health programs we provided including MH Triage for NSW for a number of regions, Quitline, Beyond Blue and 1800Respect. - Most recently I have returned to client facing work and am the Team Leader for a team within a Primary Health Network supporting the Medicare Mental Health telephone line.
I am also a Mental Health First Aid instructor and enjoy providing practical mental health skills and education to anyone in the community to build awareness and decrease stigma.
My current role/work
I lead a team of clinicians and practitioners who support callers to the Medicare Mental Health phone service in assessing and identifying mental health support needs and facilitating those linkages to ensure callers are receiving the right care at the right time from the right service. This may include everything from self help right through to acute services and everything in between.
My training
Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing
Diploma of Leadership and Management
Mental Health First Aid instructor
Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision
Masterclass of Reflective Practice
My approach to supervision
My approach to supervision is often grounded in a person centred model. I believe one of the most important skills we can develop as a clinician is the ability to critically reflect, and supervision is the most appropriate place for this to take place. It can provide greater self awareness and shift our thinking towards problem solving and growth.
