A reformed Mental Health and Wellbeing system must reflect the diverse realities, strengths, and needs of the people it serves. At the Collaborative Centre, we’re committed to ensuring that no voice is left behind and those who are most impacted by exclusion or marginalisation are part of shaping change.

True transformation begins with genuine partnership. To support an intersectional and holistic approach across our work, we collaborate with community organisations and peak bodies – including those led by people with lived and living experience – who represent communities that have historically been underrepresented or underserved in the Mental Health and Wellbeing system.

Our Priority Communities

We are especially focused on adults and older adults needing ongoing, intensive forms of mental health and wellbeing treatment, care and support, as well as their families, carers, supporters and kin. For these communities, we are committed to supporting and amplifying culturally responsive, intersectional approaches to care by working alongside and uplifting the voices of:

  • First Nations people and communities
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • LGBTIQA+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy people and communities
  • People with disability and neurodiverse communities
  • People impacted by intersecting layers of oppression, including racial, social, gendered, economic, and systemic barriers.

By centring the leadership, knowledge and experience of these communities, we are creating a system that is inclusive, just, and capable of healing deep-rooted inequities. Together, we’re shaping a future where everyone, no matter their background or identity, has access to safe, respectful, and effective mental health and wellbeing support.

We want to work with people and organisations who share our values and commitment to a safe, inclusive and responsive mental health and wellbeing system.

We welcome opportunities for partnerships and collaborations. Please feel free to contact us to discuss how we can work together: collabcentre@vccmhw.vic.gov.au.
