About me

I am a nurse of many years experience. I have embraced clinical supervision for my own development as a general and mental health nurse. I have provided individual supervision internally and externally throughout my career to both general and mental health nurses, in addition I have by request undertaken targeted group supervision. Having initially trained as a general nurse and then went on to study and work in the mental health space. I have worked with children, adolescents and families, complex chronic disease and mental health. I have an interest in lifelong learning with a particular interest in Clinical Ethics.

My experience

My work experience covers a variety of roles including: front line, chronic disease, complex and vulnerable client's, and intellectual disability. Previously worked in: the emergency department, as an occupational health nurse in industry, and as a school nurse. I later qualified as a mental health nurse and worked in child and adolescent mental health with CAMHS. I have managed specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teams as well as project work in this space. For experience I have worked for a brief time with both Department of Human Services and in Community Health as a Service Coordinator. For several years worked in the Hospital Admission Risk program as a Team Leader and mental health nurse for Psychosocial stream.

My current role/work

Currently working as the Manager of a Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Team in a large Metroplitan Health service, across multiple sites. I am the Chief Nursing Officer Representative Member in the organisation's Clinical Ethics Committee. I currently provide clinical supervision to several senior mental health nurses within the organisation.

My approach to supervision

I have always valued clinical supervision and have a strong belief in the importance of reflective practice that strengthens and encourages development of practitioners in their work and everyday life. I am a lifelong learner and so nurture and encourage individual's to further develop their knowledge, skills and confidence so that they can find their professional voice.
