My approach to supervision

My style to supervision is to establish a safe space that is respectful & free of judgment. I like to be led by supervisees to identify what they wish to discuss in their sessions. To ensure sessions are most beneficial to supervisees, I do encourage the collaborative development of supervision contacts as a means to both structure our sessions together & to ensure both parties are clear about expectations. I view supervision as having three core components - providing support, space for learning & maintain accountability (to themselves, their clients and to the organisations they work for). I encourage supervisees to critically reflect on their clinical work to uncover the impacts it has on them both professionally and personally. I encourage supervisees to also reflect on team dynamics and service systems that impact on them and their clients. Reviewing of relevant literature together is also supported to enhance practice.
