About me

This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT.

Supervision has been a guiding light for me developing my practice as a peer support worker. I feel fortunate now to be able to offer supervision to others.

I have completed training in Intentional Peer Support (IPS) and Consumer Perspective Supervision (CPS) and am guided by their principles and values. I see supervision as a safe space allowing you to bring anything that feels meaningful to you and that may be impacting on your work.

I am a very creative and reflective person. A must for me is journalling and mindfulness. I got a lot out of doing ACT Therapy. I love art, music, songwriting, and am getting singing lessons. I love books, nature and dancing. I also am getting more active these days walking my dog Buddy, swimming and slowing down through yoga.

This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT. If you are a supervisee who has received an approval email/letter from the CMHL you may contact this supervisor for supervision for this project, then follow the stated processes for supervision payment.

My experience

I started my career in mental health in 2010 working within the Personal Helpers and Mentors Program (PHAMS) at The Benevolent Society in NSW as a mental health support worker. Over the years I’ve worked as a teacher. I work part -time running my own Creative Arts Therapy business supporting people 1:1 and in groups around developing sense of self, confidence and supporting people through challenges. I integrate my lived experience into the art therapy sessions.

I moved to Melbourne to study Creative Arts Therapy 13 years ago from county NSW. Five years ago, I decided to follow my heart and begin work as a peer support worker. I began at MIND Australia working within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) program. I also worked at SANE Australia as a peer support worker providing support via telehealth, before coming to St Vincent’s.

My current role/work

I work with St Vincent's hospital as a Senior Peer Support Worker in a Community Mental Health Clinic. I support consumers 1:1 with complex needs and those at risk. I work with people in the Intensive Community Packages program (ICP). This role provides longer term support in an outreach capacity. I also work within the Group Program & Brief Interventions team, facilitating groups that are both peer focused and more general groups such a walking group and creativity and mindfulness group. Some workshops are one off sessions, some are ongoing, and others are closed that run for up to 6 weeks. I work within a clinical setting and within an allied health team. My current role includes designing, facilitating and evaluating groups.

Through my art therapy business Zeva Art Therapy, I am facilitating a 6 week online group called Coming Home to You: A Journey to Self- Worth & Confidence. I also provide individual art therapy sessions. I also, facilitate a monthly ongoing online Art Therapy group through Alevia Medical Weight Loss Clinic. In these sessions I use my skills as an art therapist but also share my lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery and struggling with weight and confidence/self-worth issues. The group is called Reclaim Yourself. Each month there are different themes and people can drop in an out each month.

I currently am also providing internal consumer perspective supervision at St Vincent's Hospital. I have really enjoyed building rapport, connection and supporting others in this role.

My approach to supervision

I’ve been told I am a warm, open person and listen deeply. I understand working within mental health as a peer worker has its complexities and challenges. Supervision is a place to unpack work issues, explore possibilities, challenge ideas and a place to learn and reflect. I value empathy, curiosity, authenticity and mutuality and am led by what you choose to bring into the session. No agenda just presence. I also believe that looking after ourselves and our own wellbeing is so important in this kind of work.
