About me
I am passionate about the lived experience workforce. Having worked in a number of different lived experience roles including acute inpatient, rehab and community settings I have a deep understanding of the needs of the workforce and believe that no peer worker should be left feeling unsupported. Accountability, gratitude, empathy and authenticity are values that I hold close to me.
My passion is supporting peers who work with consumers who have eating disorders as I understand how challenging this can be. AS well as supporting peers post suicide or a NFSI and the impact this has on peers.
My experience
I have worked in a number of lived experience roles through out the years both in NSW and Qld.
One of my most enjoyable roles was working as a peer health coach where I worked with consumers who were living with mental health, on their physical health goals. This allowed me to provide support to consumers on their mental health and physical health journeys.
Moving to Queensland in 2020 I began working within the adult acute mental health inpatient units where I provided 1:1 peer support to consumers, families as well as the MDT.
Having a break from the acute setting, I moved to community rehab where I was able to support consumers in their recovery journey, achieve their goals and move towards living independently.
My current role/work
In 2024, I started work in my dream lived experience role. Having a lived experience of an eating disorder, I now work as an Advanced Peer worker within an eating disorder specialist service. My role is to provide support to consumers and their families and share the ups and downs of recovery. Part of my role is to provide training and education to the wider workforce on the best way to support consumers and their families on their eating disorder recovery journey. My passion is to share my own struggles and ensure consumers are given a choice and receive the best possible outcome for recovery.
My training

My approach to supervision
My approach to supervision will be guided and directed by the supervisee. Agreement including how often we meet will be discussed.
Self-reflection and mentalisation are two theories I like to incorporate into supervision.
I understand the challenges that peer workers face within the lived experience workforce. The highs and lows, frustrations and successes, I believe that all peers should be provided a safe and supportive space for supervision and work towards carer growth and meeting personal and professional needs and goals.
