About me
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT.
I have a personal history of substance use and mental ill-health, and I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges of rebuilding life from a place of struggle. Through determination and self-reflection, I put my head down and worked hard to climb out of the hole I had fallen into. Those experiences shaped my belief that everyone deserves to hold their own views and values without fear of judgment or ridicule. Coming from a Hispanic background, I carry a deep respect for diversity, resilience, and community. After 14 years in a completely different industry, I made the decision to follow a new path — one within the very workforce that played such a vital role in my own recovery and continues to inspire the work I do today.
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT. My experience
I have over eight years of experience working within the lived experience workforce across several major mental health organisations, including Eastern Health, Wellways, Breakthru, and Melbourne Health.
My journey began as a member of the post discharge Peer Support workforce when it launched in 2017 with Melbourne Health, where I supported people through their recovery both during hospital admission and after discharge. Since then, I’ve held a variety of roles that have allowed me to draw on my lived experience to offer genuine connection, hope, and encouragement — from peer mentoring and psychosocial recovery coaching to supervising and supporting emerging peer workers.
Most recently, I worked as the Team Leader for the Lived Experience Workforce within Eastern Health’s Access and Rehab services. In this role, I helped shape and implement the framework for the workforce, led recruitment and supervision, and worked alongside clinical leaders to ensure meaningful integration of lived experience across services. I also focused on building professional development pathways and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the peer workforce and embed lived experience perspectives at all levels.
Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a commitment to authentic co-production, professional integrity, and creating systems that truly value and centre lived experience as a source of expertise, understanding, and change.

My approach to supervision
My approach to supervision is grounded in creating a safe and supportive environment where every individual feels free to show up as their authentic self, without fear of judgment or expectation. I see supervision as a shared learning space — one built on mutual respect, equality, and genuine curiosity. It’s a place where both people have the opportunity to reflect, grow, and learn from each other’s experiences, fostering trust, confidence, and professional development.
