Eila Lyon
About me
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT.
Hi, my name is Eila (she/her). I live in country Victoria and have a love of wide open spaces, the ocean, animals, reading, theatre, music and film. Having emigrated from the UK, as a child, I am grateful to the Gunditjmara peoples to be able to live, work and play on their land. Before entering the Mental Health Sector I worked as a secondary school teacher and trained as an actor. My values align closely with Consumer Perspective values, but above all I'm guided by kindness.
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT. If you are a supervisee who has received an approval email/letter from the CMHL you may contact this supervisor for supervision for this project, then follow the stated processes for supervision payment.
My experience
I started working in designated consumer roles in 2008. Since then I've worked as a Consumer Consultant, Consumer Peer Worker, Consumer Facilitator & Educator, primarily in clinical settings with some experience in community settings. I initially worked in isolation until I had others to play with, which was much more supportive and rewarding. I am committed to working from a human rights framework and draw inspiration from the many consumers I've had the privilege of interacting with. I've also worked as a Transformation Consumer Lead (jazz hands please) and have a sound understanding of Co-Production.
My current role/work
Since June 2023 I've worked with the Centre for Mental Health Learning as a Workforce Development Coordinator and Consumer Educator, providing support to the Consumer Workforce across Victoria. In addition, I work casually with the Barwon South West Interim Regional Body as the designated consumer member and occasionally with Athena Consumer Workforce Consulting as a trainer.

My approach to supervision
My approach to supervision is tailored to the individual's needs and preferred ways of knowing, working and learning. I generally utilise the CPS Framework and IPS Co-reflection style to provide scaffolding for the sessions. I aim to create a safe, supportive and confidential space for co-reflection and exploration of consumer perspective practice. I am happy to work in a 'free form' way, with whatever is alive for you on the day, or in a more structured way to cover a broad range of issues.
I like to have an initial discussion ahead of the first session, to ensure we're suited to one another.
