Statewide Enrolled Nurse educators

The Centre for Mental Health Learning statewide mental health enrolled nurse educator role transitioned to the Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and wellbeing in July 2025. The team consists of 3 fulltime enrolled nurse educators (PEN level 4) who support workforce development and education for enrolled nurses working in Victoria’s public mental health and wellbeing sector. They also provide an enrolled nurse perspective to the Collaborative Centre’s broader workforce initiatives.

Statewide Enrolled Nurse educator activities

The enrolled nurse educators work to facilitate connections between mental health enrolled nurses across Victoria and provide the most up-to-date training to strengthen and progress the workforce. They also lead discipline specific workforce development and education initiatives aligned with the priority areas identified in the statewide mental health enrolled nurse scoping project.

Statewide Mental Health Enrolled Nurse Scoping Report

In 2020, a comprehensive scoping project was conducted to identify professional development gaps and opportunities within Victoria’s mental health enrolled nurse workforce.

This report reflects eight months of engagement with senior representatives from each Victorian Area Mental Health Service, including Forensicare, as well as direct consultation with mental health enrolled nurses working in public mental health. The CMHL collated, analysed, and documented the data collected during this process.

The resulting scoping report provides a detailed profile of the workforce across Victorian Area Mental Health Services and aims to support collaboration, growth, and ongoing learning and development within the profession.
