Workforce insights brings together what we are learning about Victoria's mental health and wellbeing workforce. It shares emerging needs, strengths and gaps to help inform how workforce development is coordinated, prioritised and delivered across the system. This page draws on evidence, sector feedback and Lived and Living Experience to support shared understanding of where the workforce is being stretched, where capability is growing, and where further support may be needed. Over time, this space will continue to grow as we deepen our engagement with the workforce and partners across Victoria.
How these insights are used
Workforce insights are used to help:
- inform priorities for workforce development and learning
- support coordination across partners and initiatives
- shape future learning and development opportunities
- contribute evidence and insights to system-level conversations
This work is part of our broader role in supporting a learning mental health system, where people and organisations can reflect on what is happening across the workforce and adapt over time.
Workforce DNA (development needs analysis)
Our statewide Development Needs Analysis (DNA) is building a clearer picture of workforce strengths, gaps and future capability needs across roles, settings and regions. This work aims to support more joined-up planning for training, learning and workforce development across the system.
Spotlight on capabilities
Spotlight on capabilities highlights priority areas of workforce capability through practical examples, tools, events and learning opportunities. Each spotlight brings together perspectives from practice, research and Lived and Living Experience to support learning in real-world contexts.
