Across Victoria’s mental health sector, services are already doing impressive work to support and develop their workforce. From innovative training to practical learning resources and approaches, there is a wealth of expertise being built and shared every day.

The Collaborative Centre is launching a new initiative to help extend this work so it can benefit the broader workforce across Victoria.

The survey has now closed, and we thank those who participated. If you're interested in taking part in this project going forward, you can seek further information by contacting workforce@vccmhw.vic.gov.au.

This initiative aims to identify successful workforce development and enable access for our whole workforce, rather than develop new statewide programs. They may be discipline specific or interdisciplinary, and target early career, mid-career or senior practitioners.

Initiatives will be scored against the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness and value for money

  • Alignment with priorities for workforce development in Victoria (Our Workforce, Our Future)

  • Extent of lived experience leadership and review

  • Reach and suitability for expansion beyond the service

A mix of initiatives will be selected to support workforce development across different regions, service settings and discipline groups.

Selected initiatives will be shared via the Collaborative Centre's workforce development calendar, with financial support provided to services on a cost-recovery basis.

Emma Cadogan, The Centre’s Director of Workforce Development, stated: “There is a wealth of learning and development expertise in Victoria's mental health services, and excellent workforce development is already being delivered. This initiative aims to recognise existing sector expertise, share resources and ensure that all of our mental health workforce can benefit. It will build the capability of our workforce in priority areas and ultimately benefit consumers, families and supporters”

We look forward to learning about your services’ workforce development initiatives.
