Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Understand the bi-directional relationship between mental health and substance use and the impact on treatment and outcomes.
  • Recognise the value of integrated care approaches when working with people experiencing co-occurring mental health and AOD concerns and how Hamilton Centre can provide support.
  • Understand the role of AOD pharmacotherapy in integrated care.

 

About the facilitator

Alice Frank, Hamilton Centre & Eastern Health


Alice is the senior pharmacist for the Hamilton Centre Central and Eastern Health teams and is also currently the Acting Clinical Lead for the Eastern Health team. She was responsible for establishing the clinical mental health pharmacist ward based service at Northern Health and the expansion of clinical mental health pharmacist services at Austin Health.

In 2021, she was also a contributing author to the report commissioned by the Department of Health that informed the addition of tramadol, pregabalin and gabapentin to SafeScript.

Last year, she deepened her AOD leadership skills as a participant in VAADA’s AOD Leadership Accelerator Pilot Program.
