Paula Cowin
About me
My name is Paula my pronouns are she/her. I am originally from NSW, moving to the Greater Geelong region in 2012. I love living on Wadawurrung land and feel very privileged to be surrounded by such beauty. I find being around water very calming and soothing. I have been a single parent of 3 beautiful girls for over a decade. I enjoy gardening, especially growing organic food. Prior to becoming a Lived and Living Experience worker I worked as a disability support worker. I have strong advocacy and social justice views.
My experience
My consumer peer career started in 2021 in an NGO community team. I have moved on to work in public mental health in a mental health hospital in the home team and an adult IPU. I have co-facilitated Trauma Informed Care training. In early 2026 I did a 3-month secondment to the Health and Community Services Union as their first LLEW Organiser.

I am currently a Senior Peer Worker in public mental health

My approach to supervision
I am an empathetic person, and I believe that creating a safe space is paramount for effective supervision. Each person’s needs are unique so I am happy to be guided by the supervisee on what works best for them. I am happy to have a chat before the initial session to see if we are a good fit.
