About me
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT.
Previously a forensic accountant, I moved to Australia from California in 2017 and switched careers to utilise my lived experience and work in mental health, starting as a Helpline Volunteer at Anxiety Recovery Centre Victoria (ARCVic).
I'm passionate about promoting socio-economic and health equity, and I use my lived experience and intersecting identities to inform my work. Of particular interest to me is the intersection of culture, race, gender, and mental health. My lived experience as a child of Palestinian migrants to the U.S. has greatly shaped my values and character, and I am passionate human rights and social justice for all marginalised communities.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature, sports, and live music, as well as eating, dancing, and laughing with my loved ones.
This supervisor has been approved to provide supervision under the ACCESS TO SUPERVISION PROJECT. If you are a supervisee who has received an approval email/letter from the CMHL you may contact this supervisor for supervision for this project, then follow the stated processes for supervision payment.
My experience
Prior to joining CMHL, I worked at Mind Australia in various designated and non-designated roles, including consumer peer support, learning and development, research, and leadership in both PARCs and long term residential services (youth and adult).
I joined CMHL in January 2023 as their first Lived Experience Workforces Manager, where I support staff from both the family/carer and consumer LE disciplines.
I also currently work casually as a Consumer Academic at University of Melbourne's Consumer Academic Program (CAP) within the Centre for Mental Health Nursing (CMHN).

My approach to supervision
I am motivated to provide supervision to lived experience managers / leaders / consultants who may not have access to supervision.
My approach is warm and casual, and will be guided by each supervisee's individual needs. I value mutuality, justice, integrity and humility and I strive to live these values in my personal and professional life.
I am also particularly interested in supporting consumer workforce members from Culturally and Racially Marginalised (CARM) or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
