Julian Robinson
About me
My name is Julian or Jules and I use he/they pronouns. I come with experience of mental health challenges, suicidality, hidden disability, and surviving a system that is resistant to different ways of being. With a foundation in Peer work and Consumer Representation, I work as a Lived Experience Supervisor, working to support people through new ways of doing things. I use my personal and professional learnings to advocate for those often unheard by seeking the stories untold, expanding worldviews and sitting in the discomfort of multiple truths. I deeply value Humanity and bring myself authentically into every space that I enter. Before stepping into Lived Experience work, I learnt to find myself through compassionate dog training.
When I'm not working, I'm likely going on adventures in the bush with my loved ones, learning to have fun with my little one or letting go with guitar, building miniblocks or exploring in video games.
My experience
I have experience in various Lived Experience roles. These include 1:1 peer support and peer group facilitation, facilitating peer education utilising peer principles to consumers, peer workers and non-designated workers, Consumer Representation in research projects and committees.
My training
The trainings that have the most influence my practice are:
WA Peer Supervision Course - I was previously a facilitator
Emotional CPR (eCPR) - I am an eCPR Educator
Intentional Peer Support
Alternatives to Suicide Facilitator Training
Peer Work Skill Set
My approach to supervision
My approach to Supervision is one that is unafraid to speak to the unspoken. I have no fear of naming our biases and having our understandings being challenged. I believe this is where we can develop our practice and ourselves. I like to bring coreflection to the space, allowing our worldviews and perceptions to be explored together, and I also like to explore in a more one sided approach with deep questioning. I am happy to adapt to your needs.
