Statewide Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Consultation - Synthesis and Insights Report
Overview
The majority of people with addiction also experience mental illness, yet often face barriers due to fragmented mental health and AOD service systems. To address this, the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System recommended integrated care for individuals with co-occurring conditions and the creation of a dedicated Statewide service. In March 2022, Turning Point was appointed as the Statewide Service Lead to provide expert support, training, and research. To inform this work, Monash University’s Design Health Collab and Turning Point held two online co-design workshops with over forty stakeholders across Victoria. These included clinicians, peer workers, and lived experience advocates, who contributed to shaping a best practice model for integrated care, supporting the development of the new Statewide Centre.
