The Collective - The Collab Connection: Bridges, Allies, and Family Carer Lived Experience

Hosted by The Collective, this warm and interactive workshop is a dedicated space to explore how we can elevate our work together. Whether you are new to the role or looking to deepen your advocacy, join us to share your wisdom, build confidence, and connect with peers in a supportive environment—a safe space to ground yourself in the core strengths that support your work and reflect on what makes allyship feel authentic.

In this session, we will explore:

Connecting Wisdom to Evidence: We'll examine key insights from The Collab conference, emphasising the significance of spaces dedicated to sharing collective knowledge. We'll discuss approaches to increase our collective impact through carer-led research and the integration of lived experience into the broader evidence base.

The Relational Communication Link: Gain an understanding of how carer-led research initiatives and practice frameworks—such as The Holder’s Journey—serve as effective tools for facilitating communication and supporting colleagues to better understand carers’ perspectives and emotional experiences.

Spotting & Cementing Allies: We'll discuss differentiating authentic integration from tokenism, offering practical methods for recognising, cultivating, and sustaining authentic allies and partnerships that support family carer inclusion and advocacy. To support this we'll explore how to use our FCLEW Discipline Framework as a structural foundation to formally acknowledges Family Carer Lived Experience Work as a unique and respected discipline.

The Collective FCLEW workshops are intentionally designed for interaction, mutual learning, and deep-dive discussions. This practical workshop offers a unique space to build a deeper connection to your daily work. Through the mutual sharing of our expertise, we cultivate the community and collective wisdom that defines our discipline.  

Eligibility criteria: All registrants for this training must be employed in a Family Carer Lived Experience role in Victoria. 

Due to limits on the number of registrants who can attend the training, those new to the workforce will be prioritised.
