We work in systems and truthfully, we are part of those systems but also sit on the edges of those systems. We need to be able to “play well in the sandpit” to be of any use within our roles. But, how do we do that when others keep trying to have us work outside of our scope?
This workshop will explore how we can stay true to the LLEW values, no matter what discipline you work in, nor what setting your work in. It will explore how we are there for the people we support and how we can stay strong to support them in their self-determination, even when there may be differences of opinions with non the LLEW.
Facilitator: Robyn Priest
Robyn Priest has built a career shaped by their own mental health adventures. They have been fortunate and privileged to live and work in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada in a range of LLE-designated roles for almost 30 years. Robyn has worked in LLE-run organisations, mainstream services with LLE roles, state government health services, government funding roles and, for many years, through their own consultancy business. For more than 15 years, Robyn has developed and implemented a range of LLEW roles and delivered training for frontline LLEW workers and supervisors across diverse settings. Robyn is currently the Manager of the Collective and, in their spare time, still delivering a first of its kind in the world, 60 hour Peer Support Professional certification training in Colorado that includes MH, AOD, HR and family LLEW in the same training.
